Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards

COSH, with full support of nearly 50 major commerce chambers and associations in Hong Kong, organized the Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards together with Occupational Safety and Health Council to encourage businesses to promote smoke-free messages. The Awards received over 480 applications, benefiting more than 65,000 employees from a wide variety of industries. The awards presentation ceremony was held on 27 February 2017 to commend outstanding smoke-free companies.

"Enact Enlargement of Pictorial Health Warnings Promptly" Press Conference

COSH urged the Government and Legislative Council to take account of public opinions and enact the enlargement of pictorial health warnings on tobacco products to at least 85% promptly in order to reduce the attractiveness of tobacco, motivate more smokers to quit and deter youth from trying the first cigarette.

COSH's response to the tobacco control policies proposed by The Budget


Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH) expressed disappointment for the decision of the Financial Secretary in The 2017-18 Budget that the tobacco tax will not be raised.



Smoking imposes huge economic cost across the globe


The latest study conducted by World Health Organization (WHO) and American Cancer Society found that smoking costs US$1.4 trillion, which is equivalent to nearly 2% of the world’s annual GDP.



World No-Tobacco Day 2017
The World Health Organization (WHO) designated 31st May of each year as the annual World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). The theme of WNTD 2017 is “Tobacco – a threat to development”.
