Seminar on Tobacco Control 2011

The Department of Health invited eminent international experts on tobacco control and cessation services to give presentations in the Seminar on Tobacco Control on 13 December 2011. The experts invited and their presentations were as follows:

Dr. Fiona ADSHEAD, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, UK on secondment to PricewaterhouseCoopers (UK) as Director – Behaviour Change and Tobacco Control : Fast Thinking and Approaches Old and New;
 
l    
Dr Michael BURKE, Treatment Programme Coordinator, Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependence Center – Residential Treatment Programme : Mayo Clinic Nicotine Depedence Center Experience;
 
l    
Dr. Antero HELOMA, Principal Medical Advisor, National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland
 
l    
Mr Luke ATKIN, Manager of Quit Support Programme, Quit Victoria, Australia – Expanding Cessation Support Options for Smokers
 

Seminar on Tobacco Control 2011In addition to the Seminar, the experts had visited COSH and cessation service centres operated by NGOs in Hong Kong. The COSH Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Executive Director shared the work of COSH with the experts, especially on the experience and challenges in promoting smoke-free workplace. The representatives from Tobacco Control Office also presented their recent developments in their Quitline Service and Quit Smoking App for telecommunication devices.
