Smoke-free Floral Expo with Smoking Cessation Pavilions
International Floral Expo will be held in Taipei from 6 November 2010 to 25 April 2011.

To protect visitors from secondhand smoke, Department of Health, Taiwan has announced that the venues of Floral Expo are designated as statutory no smoking areas, including all the open-air zones whereas smoking areas are assigned for smokers. The Department of Health of the Taipei City Government will strictly enforce the smoke-free legislation under the penalty of smoking offence from NT$2,000 to NT$10,000.

Maps and signs will be indicating the locations of 7 smoking areas of Floral Expo. The newly introduced smoking cessation pavilions in Taipei will be arranged at 5 smoking areas.

Smoking cessation tips and Fagerstrom Test of Nicotine Dependence are provided in the pavilions so as to allow smokers understand their level of nicotine dependence and choose suitable cessation methods.

The 2009 Taiwan smoking prevalence for aged 18 or above is 20%. Of the over 3.6 million of adult smokers, the rate for males and females are 35.4% and 4.2% respectively.
